Wood Ash

Introduction

Wood ash is the residue of fire from agricultural waste and wood. Wood ash is a rich source of potassium and lime. Though the quantity varies plant to plant, it is good source of many nutrients. Wood ash may contain carbon which is generally called as char. This carbon has capacity to hold moisture and release slowly as required.

Wood ash is alkaline in nature hence used to nutrilize acidic soils.  Wood ashes will raise the pH and lower the acid in soil.  Wood ashes will raise the pH and lower the acid in soil.
